Recently, the PV Module Forum 2019, sponsored by TÜV Rheinland, opened at TÜV Rheinland's head office in Cologne, Germany. TÜV Rheinland is an internationally renowned independent third-party inspection, testing and certification Institution. As a world-renowned PV manufacturer, Suntech arrived at this forum and displayed its latest concepts for technological innovation and products with higher power output.

This year’s PV Module Forum was attended by a growing number of global PV module representatives, manufacturers, and traders. PV cell and module technologies were major topics at this forum, while PV product´s quality and reliability were the main focus. In addition, PV industry experience, quality assurance, standardization, and climate change issues were included as macro topics. Furthermore, detailed market introductions on PV modules for use in many countries and regions were introduced to help PV manufacturers improve product quality and performance.

Nowdays, the PV industry is flourishing, and the role of an international testing certification center for PV products is particularly important. Testing certification is not only the best inspection of product quality, but also the key to entering domestic and foreign PV markets. New PV manufacturing technologies are replacing old ones, so the certification standards should also keep pace with technological development. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly improve the measurement standards and test methods for PV products. At this year’s forum, TÜV Rheinland published the latest IEC standards, including IEC 61853 (module performance testing and energy rating). This standard divides the world into six different climates. The best technologies for each climate will be guided by IEC standards. In addition, since bifacial modules have became popular in the PV market, TÜV Rheinlandrevised IEC TS 62782. Forum attendees had an in-depth discussion on 1,000 cyclic dynamic mechanical load testing with 1,000 pa added, based on BP data by the standards of IEC TS 62782.

Suntech has been known for its product quality and reliability. Recently, TÜV Rheinland awarded the Suntech PV Testing Center the title of “TMP Lab.” The good cooperation between TÜV Rheinland and Suntech dates back to 2005. In recent years, the two have maintained frequent contacts in the areas of testing, certification, exchanges, cooperation, and strategic development. TÜV Rheinland has focused on testing for the last 40 years, and it has provided universal testing and certification support for PV enterprises following a principle of fairness with precise standards.

Sources stated that a report onclimate change and the promotion of renewable energy was published at the forum. The report details the view that renewable energy is the only way to curb global warming. According to the report, the installed capacity of PV modules in Germany is expected to increase by 16GW/year. This can be compared to the country’s current installed capacity of 2.5GW. Therefore, we see the German PV market as having unlimited potential.Based on the global market, Suntech will continue to improve product quality, provide customers with better products and services, and spare no effort to light up every corner of the world with the cleanest and most abundant energy found in nature — solar energy.
