Release of a Whole New Series of Products
At the exhibition, Suntech presented a total of 9 high-end products, fully demonstrating Suntech’s forward-looking technology in module manufacturing. The newly launched high-power modules of the Suntech Ultra series provide more possibilities for those who pursue ultimate high power and high conversion efficiency of modules. On the basis of optimizing module reliability in all respects, the Ultra series makes the most of original structure designs to greatly reduce the module weight, to provide customers with products better in quality and reliability. Ultra-products’ innovation and efficiency provide customers with a solution of lower LCOE, for they are equipped with mainstream technologies in the industry such as high-density cell interconnect technology, a non-destructive cutting process and multi-busbar technology, which makes them significantly more advanced in reducing internal losses and hot spot risks, and in increasing the power generation capacity of modules.
In addition, Suntech also exhibited some differentiated module products such as heterojunction (HJT), shingled and slotted modules for further concern, which provides more choices for the development of a technology roadmap for the PV industry. Among them, the shingling technology replaces the traditional metal ribbon with conductive adhesives, which greatly reduces the resistivity, when busbar-free design can further reduce the shielding area on the surface of the cell; the unique slotting technology reserves notches for ribbons through non-destructive cutting on the cell surface, ultimately solving the problem of the gap between cell and ribbon, and preventing the micro-cracks on the cell caused by ribbons when laminating; the heterojunction (HJT) products exhibited this time are worth mentioning. They are made through a more simplified production process with higher power generation efficiency and will accelerate the development of PV technology.
Steady Capacity Expansion
As of the first half of 2020, Suntech’s record of global historical cumulative shipments has exceeded 23GW, when global shipments have reached 100 countries and regions. In August, Suntech’s new production capacity driven by 1.5GW high-efficiency modules in the Wuxi factory officially started. At the same time, Suntech will also carry out an intelligent technology upgrading project for the Wuxi factory in the third quarter of 2020, by then, a new production line equipped with high-efficiency modules production capacity by 5GW will be established there. It is worth mentioning that the Suntech Group plans to achieve internal coordinated development through vertical integration. At present, Suntech Group has started the projects of 5GW and 2GW module production in Yangzhou and Zhenjiang respectively, showing off the advantages of group companies in management, technology, capital, channel and brand, to achieve group development of higher quality. When the production target is reached at the end of 2020, the global PV market’s demand for high-quality and high-reliability PV modules will be further satisfied. The clustering effects within the group’s industrial chain will be enhanced and improved, when the brand Suntech can achieve rapid and efficient development.
